At Tonkotsu we care about people; our customers, our staff and those in the world around us. We try hard to embody the Japanese spirit of compassion and care, omoiyari, embracing and celebrating differences and helping those in need.
We’ve set up the Tonkotsu Foundation to help alleviate hunger and those suffering from ill health. Every time you buy a Japanese Mushroom Miso ramen, 50p goes into our foundation. Since 2021 we have given £39,000 to a variety of charities with £10,000 remaining to be distributed

The Tonkotsu Foundation recently donated £5,000 to Action Against Hunger to help with both the emergency relief efforts in Türkiye & Syria as well as supporting displaced refugees from the war in Ukraine.
Action Against Hunger’s response to these emergency relief efforts include:
– Distributing essential items, like blankets, hot food and food baskets, clean water and hygiene kits
– Providing urgent medical care
– Giving people a safe space to stay in emergency shelters
– Providing cash to people so they can buy whatever they need as well as food baskets and hot meals

Why these donations are important
Armed conflict is the number one driver of hunger. With war comes displacement, disruptions to local supply chains and soaring food prices. Families are driven into poverty and struggle to access food. An estimated 18 million people in Ukraine have been displaced by the war and so Action Against Hunger is working to distribute food and hygiene kits to refugees in countries neighbouring Ukraine to support these people.
In Türkiye and Syria… at every stage after the earthquake, Action Against Hunger and other DEC partners and their local partners have used the money we donated to respond to the most urgent needs, providing food, medical supplies, clean water, accommodation, generators and direct cash payments. They are also helping children continue their education, providing mental health support and keeping vulnerable people safe.
